EXTENSION PROGRAM SIX: Attachment Theory and Practice: A Move to Representation
Coordinator: Elizabeth Tuters
Through the use of film, this course will explore the biological-evolutionary theory of parent–infant attachment as proposed by John Bowlby, Mary Ainsworth, and Mary Main. Attachment theory stresses survival and adaptation in the context of relationships with protective others as critical components in human development and psychopathology. ကe course will focus on applications of attachment theory to understanding individuals and their relationships through observation, presentation, and group discussions. Participants will develop a basic understanding of attachment theory, including the caregiver antecedents, and behavioural, emotional, and cognitive characteristics of dìerent attachment patterns.
